David Davies
David Davies holds a Degree in Geology from the University of Durham and originally worked as a geologist in the petroleum exploration industry. Subsequently, following completion of a Master's Degree in Information Systems Engineering in 1987, David worked in a number of roles within the NHS in Wales.
In 1994 David moved to Galway, Republic of Ireland, to work as Information Services Manager with the Western Health Board. Since 1999, he has been Director of IM&T with the Swindon & Marlborough NHS Trust. In that capacity David led on all aspects of IM&T associated with the opening of the new Great Western Hospital, Swindon in December 2002. At that time the Trust became one of the very few in the country to have a fully deployed PACS, and one that formed part of its integrated PAS/EPR environment. Since then, exploitation of the historical and ongoing investment made in IM&T within the Trust and through the local health community, remains a key objective.
