John Cowman Within the English system he has operated as a lead physiotherapy researcher at Kings College Hospital and has worked on several international drug trials. Returning to full clinical practice in 2000, he began to develop an interest in management and has progressed to Associate Director level at Havering PCT. His personal and professional development has included a wide range of academic pursuits, including transformational leadership, strategy development, systemic management and, most recently, participation in the development programme for social entrepreneurs through the Skoll Institute of Oxford University. He continues to work as a private clinical practitioner in the field of musculoskeletal and strongly believes the realisation of improved efficiency and effectives relies upon the alignment of clinical excellence with managerial expertise. His talk will focus on the importance of discharge summaries in aligning the right human and fiscal resources in the community and non-acute beds to ensure patients remain out of the acute as much as possible. |
