Ken Bloomfield
After 25 years service, I left the forces in 1995. I had a brief but successful period as a Practice Manager, Fundholding and Practice Manager and subsequently Business Manager in Primary Care. During this time I also achieved a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Service Management with the University of Wales College of Medicine and became an NVQ Advisor/Assessor.
I then decided that I wanted a more challenging role while still working within Primary Care and became a PRIMIS Information Facilitator for South Gloucestershire PCT. In September 2002 I was fortunate enough to be appointed as a PRIMIS Learning Consultant for the Southern Region. In this sometimes challenging, always interesting role, I thoroughly enjoyed supporting Information Facilitators, Practices and PCTs to achieve a higher standard of data quality and better understanding of information management. In November 2005 I was appointed as Senior Learning Consultant for PRIMIS+, a role that I still enjoy today.
